Mackenzies has been established for over forty years, making a range of quality leather goods.
Coming from a tradtional background Mackenzies has developed a timeless look with its
combined skills of saddlery and classic British case and bag making.
Each Mackenzie product is individually made and is finished by hand.
All of our products are handmade in Edinburgh.
At Mackenzie's we are happy to provide commissions and bespoke services.
You can send us your own designs or modify our pre-existing bags to fit your needs.
This is giving you the customer a real chance to get exactly what you want.
The service will be charged individually as an extra to each unique order.
We can also offer many more varieties of colours. Please do not hesitate to enquire. Samples can be sent out.

A BRIEF WORD ABOUT THE LEATHERS
Due to the fact that leather is a natural material there is often a variation in colour
between types of leather and indeed between individual skins. We are always pleased to
send colour samples of our stock leathers.
We use Saddle Hide leather which is tanned in the traditional way with oak bark
and plant extracts to produce a firm leather with a close, even grain. It is very
hard wearing and will mellow with age and use. Bags made in this leather are
usually unlined. It is available in black and chestnut.
SADDLE LEATHERS
Chestnut is a rich, autumnal brown showing very slight grain and aging to a beautifully
deep woody hue.
Black is tanned to the same quality as the chestnut saddle, showing similar grain characteristics, but (obviously) in black...

ITALIAN LEATHERS & SOFT HIDES
1. London Tan is a traditional pale tan is the most natural of the leathers. It is perhaps
not the most practical of colours as it has little in the way of top finish and will mark very easily.
2. Black Matt is a smooth matt leather showing minimal grain.
3. Tan Madison is a veg tan leather with a rich hazelnut colour. This leather
has a great finish to it and will age beautifully. ( This leather also comes
in many more colours)
4. Mombassa is a rich dark brown showing less natural grain and with a more matt finish.
5. Sienna is a dark chocolate brown, again with a prominent grain and polished finish.
6. Tabac is a deep tobacco brown colour with a pronounced natural grain and a polished
waxy finish. (Our most popular leather.)
7. Spanish Veg Tan is from a family run tannery near Toledo (spain).
This leather has a great amber rich orange tan colour with a waxy finish.
(also available in black)
8. Black Classic is a polished textured grained leather.
9. Waxy pull-up is heavily oiled and waxy leather. The pull-up in the leather
changes the colour from brown to an aged tan. A leather that already looks aged.
